OAKLAND COUNTY FC

MICHIGAN’S MINOR LEAGUE SOCCER TEAM

Oakland County Football Club is a minor league soccer franchise located just north of Detroit.

Founded in 2014, Oakland County FC competes in the Premier League of America, considered the 5th tier of the American soccer pyramid.

The club reached out to me after their inaugural season, in which they competed under the name Oakland United. My task was to lead the rebranding effort with a crest that would represent the county and stand the test of time.

THE BADGE

Beyond the requirement of purple as the primary color, I was given total creative control over the rebrand. I was inspired by the thousands of oak trees found across the county, and the unique shape of its leaves. Leaves are a symbol of growth, something this organization will continue to strive for. The five leaves at the heart of the crest represent the five Great Lakes, and pay tribute to the Great Lakes Premier League. The purple ring around the leaves creates the letter ‘O’ — for Oakland.
